Ahead of President Trump’s visit to India, US lawmakers write to U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo requesting an assessment (within 30 days) on the issues of Kashmir, Article 370 and Citizenship Amendment Act.
Four top US Senators, including Republican Lindsey Graham, who is close to Trump, Chris Van Hollen, Todd Young and Richard J. Durbin wrote to the US Secretary of State expressing concern about political detentions, internet curbs in Kashmir, saying this has “severe consequences”.
An expert on the Indo-Pak region Muchael Kugelman said, ” … this is big – a strongly worded letter from a bipartisan group of senators, including Lindsay Graham who has Trump’s ear on foreign policy issues. This isn’t liberal bias. It’s a tough, bipartisan message.”
