On Seeing The Moon Of Muharram

What is this shining silver sword in the sky?
Why upon seeing this moon, the Muslims bitterly cry?
The days of mourning have come; hence they grieve.
He is the Chief of Martyrs, their Saviour, they believe.
The Grandson of Prophet Muhammad stood firm and tall.
Refused to yield to tyranny, and gave his all.
His dream of human freedom was a divine call,
A spiritual leader, a prophet’s vicegerent, standing against Yazidi enthral.
Bravely stood in Karbala’s plain, for humanity’s sake,
His mission was justice and liberty, for all to partake.
Sacrifice for Islam, his kith and kin, he did make,
Rejected dictatorial orders, and the banner of God did undertake.
His blood sprouted in red tulips, embedding immortality,
Broke the chains of duplicity and duality.
Consummated the promised sacrifice of Ishmael, for Islam’s sake,
Paid the price, with courage, like a rock, he did not flake.
Yazid, a drunkard, debauched, and renegade, he was,
Forbade Islamic injunctions, in his regime’s dark pass.
Hussain said, “Better to die honourably, than live in shame”,
His glorious name will be remembered till doomsday’s flame.
He cut the roots of dictatorship with his jugular vein,
Severed the branches of a heinous, fascist reign.
Whoever opposes his divine mission is an agent of monarchy,
They are faithless people, agents of anarchy.
Two groups represent good and bad, a fact sad and true,
Followers of Hussain stand with the oppressed, anew.
Oppressors are the party of Yazid, a group of devils regressed,
Their fate is sealed, while Hussain’s legacy will forever be blessed.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی سَیِّدِنَا وَمَوْلَانَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلٰی اٰلِہٖ وَسَلِّمْ
O Allah send peace and blessings upon our master Prophet Muhammad and his progeny
