Straight from the heart!

Dear Readers

On this Iqbal Day, I am reminded once again that we Pakistanis still have far to go to become anything near to Allama Iqbal’s vision of the Ummah. We are still bound by the shackles of the visionless intellectual slavery to our colonial past. We are still blindly following those political parties that our forefathers followed before us, in complete disregard of the politicians’ blatant, nepotism, debauchery and inhumanity. We keep on voting the same looters and plunderers in power through the western system of so-called Democracy! We are ready to kill for those leaders who do not even deserve to be called human beings!

We are divided as Muslims. We give fatwas of Kufr on other Muslims if they do not belong to our own sect! That mind-set explains why Khawarij are on a killing spree in the name of Jihad and Islam all over the Middle East and in Pakistan!

It seems that the Ummah couldn’t have sunk further than this. May be it is the time of the rise of Ummah, that is why it is seeing the worst low in our history, because for every trough, there is a crest. The solution is very simple but we are not directing ourselves towards it. We just have to revert back to the essence of our religion and hold fast to Quran and Urwa-tul-Wusqa, our Holy Prophet, Muhemmed [pbuh]. We have to turn to our great teachers like Allama Iqbal who guides us towards Quran and talks about making each Muslim, a Banda-e-Momin and Mard-e-Azad! We just have to awaken our Belief!

I will use Allama Iqbal’s words to convey my message to today’s Muslims. He says in his poem Tulu-e-Islam (The Rise of Islam):

Stay blessed.
