Islamabad: Speakers from Pakistan and Kashmir leadership urged United Nations to appoint special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir and joint session of parliament. Pakistan parliament should chart out strategy to explore Kashmir movement at international level, government should summon All Parties Conference (APC) to send collective message to India that the whole nation is standing behind the Kashmiri nation. There was consensus among the participants that Pakistan should leave apologetic attitude regarding Kashmir, it was said in a conference “Bleeding Kashmir: Call for Attention” hosted jointly by All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir Chapter and Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) here in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq, Chairman Kashmir Committee, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman, Former Ambassador Masood Khan, Samia Raheel Qazi, Geo TV host Hamid Mir, APHC Leader Gulam Muhmmad Safi, Rafiq Dar, Mir Tahir Masood, Mahmood Sagir, Altaf Hussain Wani, Altaf Ahmad Bhat and others addressed on the occasion. While renowned TV host Ahmad Qureshi conducted the conference.

In his inaugural address Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir Chapter Gulam Muhmmad Safi urged the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to play his role and direct Indian leadership to stop state-sponsored atrocities in Jammu and Kashmir. He briefed the audience about the current situation of Kashmir in detail and suggested way forward for future.

Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq said the international community, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), United Nations and Human Rights Council will not come forward to resolve Kashmir issue unless Pakistan makes the Kashmir issue an integral part of its national agenda. Raja Zafarul Haq said we can only plead the case of innocent Kashmiri people at the international level sincerely when we consider those killed people as our own brothers, sisters and children. He said the government has to change its policies regarding India on trade and other matters to make the Indian government realize that we cannot compromise on the killing of innocent Kashmiris.

Chairman Kashmir Committee, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said Kashmir issue has been an integral part of Pakistan’s foreign policy during all the democratic government’s tenure. Fazl-ur-Rehman said the Kashmir committee has been reactivated and will meet on Wednesday to make a further strategy regarding the recommendations of today’s conference. Chairman of Kashmir Committee, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the rightful independence movement of Kashmiri people is named as terrorism by Indian authorities. He said Kashmir issue has been an integral part of Pakistan’s foreign policy during all the democratic government’s tenure.

Former Ambassador to United States and Vice President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman criticized the four point agenda of former army chief General Musharaf which divided the leadership of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), saying we were in constant touch with the leadership of Indian Occupied Kashmir but General Musharaf’s unilateral steps hurt the Kashmir movement. She said Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani’s killing is not the only example of Indian atrocities, we are facing these kind of killings from years and now time has come to highlight Indian atrocities in the occupied Kashmir at international level and take steps to resolve the long-standing issue aggressively, avoiding the apologetic attitude.

Former ambassador of Pakistan at United Nations Masood Khan urged the government to call a joint session of the Parliament to convey a strong message to the international community that “Pakistan stands with Kashmiris in their just cause”. He also called for arranging separate conferences to highlight Kashmir issue at national and international level. He said there is no example of the state terrorism being committed in occupied Kashmir at international level and this issue should be highlighted at all the forums including European Union and American Congress.

Geo TV Capital Talk host Hamid Mir suggested three point agenda for future planning of Pakistan government, All Parties Conference (APC) and International Conference in Islamabad. His suggestions were highly appreciated by the participants. Pakistan Muslim League (Z) Ijaz-ul-Haq said if Pakistan would adopt active approach for finding amicable solution of Kashmir, then other countries will automatically pay attention to this cause.
