Kashmir and Palestine Crises: Call for Justice

By News Desk

Islamabad – Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir and MUSLIM Institute organised a seminar titled “Kashmir and Palestine Crisis: Call for Justice” at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services on Thursday. One minute silence was observed on the start of the event to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and Kashmir.

Addressing the seminar, Mr. Shehryar Afridi said that Indian occupational regime was replicating the Israeli occupational model in Jammu and Kashmir and the world must stand up to prevent another Palestine being in process of removal from world map. He said that the disposition of local population from Jammu and Kashmir is another area where India is learning from Israeli regime and India is replicating the same in Kashmir. Settler colonial project of Israel is being implemented in blatant violation of UN resolutions.

He further added, “Modi regime is silencing the genuine voices and rights activists in Kashmir, depriving families from their very basic livelihood opportunities in a fascist manner. The Indian authorities have illegally and illogically terminated the services of many Muslim government officials in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”

President Azad Jammu & Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan said that whole Pakistani nation stands with the people of Palestine because of humanity and morality. Pakistan in collaboration with Turkey and Palestine made a huge contribution due to which many lives were saved in Gaza. People of Jammu & Kashmir want their right of self-determination promised by international community. Palestine and Kashmir represent failure of international organizations for providing due human rights.

Chairman MUSLIM Institute Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed Ali while addressing the seminar lamented that past few weeks have seen inhumane treatment of the people of Palestine and Kashmir on the hands of Israeli and Indian forces respectively. We observe the imperialism being practiced on the name of democracy. It is power asymmetry due to which powerful escapes the international laws and norms. There is no logic or morality for the atrocities perpetrated by Modi’s BJP and Israeli forces. Muslims should have a unified stance to deal with this power asymmetry which is possible by emphasizing on the spiritual connections.

Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq said that Muslims of Subcontinent passed two resolutions on 23th March 1940, one for separate state for themselves and second for Muslims of Palestine. People from all across the world have expressed their support for the oppressed. The door of International Court of Justice should be knocked against the crimes of Israel. Governments and people should come forward for financial support for rebuilding of Gaza.

Other distinguished speakers included Ambassador of Palestine to Pakistan H.E Mr. Ahmad Rabaie, Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan H.E Mr. Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan H.E Mr. Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizada, Lord Nazir Ahmed, Member Parliament Denmark Sikandar Siddique and Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Andleeb Abbas.

Speakers observed that Kashmir and Palestine issues present examples of worst human rights violations in the contemporary world. Both of the issues are outstanding and as old as the United Nations itself but yet they remain unresolved. Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Israeli forces in Occupied Palestine are violating international laws and committing crimes against humanity.

During past few weeks Palestinians people were targeted by the Israeli forces. Both the areas are facing the forced demographic changes and Islamophobic policies. In the contemporary world, both of these unresolved issues remind us what Nazis committed in Europe in last century. Unfortunately, Palestinians are facing oppression by the people whose ancestors claim to face holocaust. People of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are facing oppression on the hands of Nazi loving BJP that is backed by RSS, the ideological sibling of Hitler fascism.

Indian and Israeli occupying forces have converted occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Gaza strip into an open prison. It is the prime duty of United Nations to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine and provide them with due rights as promised in numerous resolutions. Attacks on religious gatherings in the holy month of Ramadan on a religious place like Masjid Al-Aqsa are condemnable. Every Muslim feels the pain of such attacks. However, the overall leadership of Muslim World has not been able to adopt practical policy to resolve either Kashmir or Palestine issue due to their own internal and sectarian conflicts. It is high time to ponder upon the future and adopt a unified policy based upon principle of humanity ensured in all international laws including UN Charter.
