Kashmir Diaspora Coalition Calls For Unified Action Against India’s State Terrorism In Occupied Kashmir
By Our Special Correspondent
Washington, D.C. – “The ongoing all-out war against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJK) is due to a failure of the international system to ensure justice and freedom on equitable basis,” the Kashmiri diaspora leadership has said.
Condemning the murder, loot and destruction of private properties in IIoJK by the Indian forces, Kashmiri Diaspora Coalition (KDC) in a statement on Sunday called on international community to wake up to the realities on the ground and act decisively and fast to protect the Kashmir and Kashmiri people against Indian onslaught.
“There is no reason for the international community to close its eyes on what is happening in IIoJK and that is why Kashmiris want international community to act fast and hold India accountable for its war crimes,” the KDC said.
The KDC said Indian military regime in IIoJK was pursuing state terrorism to terrorize the people in order to make them surrender their right to self-determination.
“Indian military regime has intensified its terror policy in IIoJK, killing, injuring, raiding, looting, abducting and burning private properties. Only a rogue state can pursue such a policy,” said the KDC, adding, “no way can the Indian military succeed in its nefarious designs to break will of Kashmiris to make them surrender.”
Indian military regime in recent past has started bulldozing homes and properties of Kashmiris in IIoJK on trumped up charges which is clear violation of Geneva Conventions and universal human rights.
“Kashmiris did not surrender since 1947 nor will we surrender anytime,” said Dr. Ghulam N. Mir, Chairman of KDC and President of Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum , calling for implementation of UN resolutions which give Kashmiris right to self-determination under which Kashmiris are allowed to decide their political fate.
“There needs to be synergy of words and actions of the Hurriyat Conference leadership and the Kashmiri Diaspora as our enemy has intensified its war on Kashmiris. If we do not act in unison and take tangible steps to halt demographic terrorism in IIoJK we may lose every Kashmiri to all-out war launched by Indian military regime in IIoJK,” KDC statement warned.
“The Kashmiri diaspora urges the world community to formulate the Ukraine model of putting sanctions on India for refusing to implement the UNSC resolutions without further delay,” said Dr. Mubeen Shah, Vice Chairman of KDC and President of Istanbul-based Kashmir House
The KDC said it was working to formulate further strategy to build systematic and sustained pressure on India to halt its terror policy in IIoJK and allow Kashmiris decide their future.
About the KDC
The Kashmir Diaspora Coalition (KDC), an international umbrella of Kashmiri diaspora organizations, was formally launched as a coalition of diaspora organizations following a three day-meeting held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, in October 2022.
The charter members of the coalition include: the US-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Canada-based Kashmir Civitas, UK-based World Kashmir Freedom Movement, UK/EU-based Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK-based Kashmir Campaign Global and Turkiye-based Kashmir House Istanbul.
The Kashmir Diaspora Coalition’s (KDC) charter is based on the right to self-determination of the people of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This foundational and inalienable right of Kashmiris is upheld by the international law and affirmed by 18 substantive United Nations resolutions. More specifically, UNSC resolution 47, passed on April 21, 1948, mandates a free and fair plebiscite to determine the will of the people of Kashmir.
