ابراہیمؑ نے کہا "پھر کیا تم اللہ کو چھوڑ کر اُن چیزوں کو پوج رہے ہو جو نہ تمہیں نفع پہنچانے پر قادر ہیں نہ نقصان؟ تف ہے تم پر اور تمہارے اِن معبُودوں پر جن کی تم اللہ کو چھوڑ کر پوجا کر رہے ہو کیا تم کچھ بھی عقل نہیں رکھتے؟" انہوں نے کہا "جلا ڈالو اس کو اور حمایت کرو اپنے خداؤں کی اگر تمہیں کچھ کرنا ہے۔" ہم نے کہا ”اے آگ، ٹھنڈی ہو جا اور ابراہیمؑ پر سلامتی بن جا۔“ (سوره الانبیاء، 66-69)

(جب ابراہیم آئے تو) بت پرستوں نے کہا کہ اے ابراہیمؑ کیا تو نے ہی ہمارے خداؤں کے ساتھ یہ كام كیا ہے؟ ابراہیمؑ نے جواب دیا بلکہ اس کام کو ان کے بڑے نے کیا ہے، تم اپنے خداؤں سے ہی پوچھ لو اگر یہ بولتے ہوں۔ انہوں نے اپنے دل میں غور کیا تو آپس میں کہنے لگے بےشک تم ہی ظالم ہو۔ مگر پھر اُن کی مت پلٹ گئی اور (ابراہیمؑ سے) بولے ”تُو جانتا ہے کہ یہ بولتے نہیں ہیں۔“ (سوره الانبیاء، 62-65)

چنانچہ اس نے اُن کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا اور صرف ان کے بڑے کو چھوڑ دیا تاکہ شاید وہ اس کی طرف رُجوع کریں۔ کہنے لگے "ہمارے خداؤں کا یہ حال کس نے کر دیا؟ بڑا ہی کوئی ظالم تھا وہ۔" لوگوں نے کہا کہ ہم نے ایک جوان کو ان کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے سنا ہے، اس کا نام ابراہیمؑ ہے۔" اُنہوں نے کہا ”تو پکڑ لاوٴ اُسے سب کے سامنے تاکہ لوگ دیکھ لیں(اُس کی کیسی خبر لی جاتی ہے)۔“ (سوره الانبیاء، 58-61)
