Speakers appraised the book and said that it was an excellent academic effort that exposes the ground realities about separatist movements in India. Mr. Sagar’s book is based on research and facts. This area is often ignored while analyzing the political and economic conditions of India. The book is a good addition in Urdu literature and will be very beneficial for researchers, students as well as common reader.

There are more than 36 separatist movements in India including 22 large scale movements and most of them are fighting since decades. They belong to different religions and regions. Religious discrimination and dominance of Hindu extremists is the main reason behind these separatist movements. The division on cast basis in Hindu culture remains the biggest cause of discrimination in India. There are severe human rights violations by Indian security forces to suppress the voice of people affiliated to these separatist movements. Even so Indian forces have failed to suppress these movements. This goes on to show that the Indian claim of being world’s biggest democracy is hollow and Indian policies are controlled by Hindu extremist factions like RSS and BJP.

India tries to hide behind the slogan of secularism but the truth cannot be suppressed for long. Hindu extremists are killing innocent minorities and also sharing videos of such brutality on social media. Speakers further observed that despite its separatist movements, India is involved in destabilizing the regional countries and almost all of its neighboring countries are victim of its terror supported activities. Pakistan and Afghanistan are also facing problems due to Indian interference. Before blaming Pakistan about terrorism, Indian politicians should look into their own country.

Unfortunately on international level, Indian separatist movements, the condition of minorities and India’s involvement in terrorist activities are not given due attention because of global economic and trade interests. International community should understand India through various indigenous separatists’ movements in India to see the true picture.
